Nakhon Non 4.0 Map Developed

ESRI (Thailand) Co., Ltd., has joined hands with Nonthaburi Municipality Office to develop a geographic map system under the name of “Nakhon Non 4.0”, where the map system will integrating spatial data to help analyse and solve population problems. The first phase of the project will be the launching of an application for mobile phones and digital tablets to provide services for the public. Early next year, the second phase will be in motion, where the system will be upgraded to include the integration of the land system and tax plans. ESRI (Thailand) Co., Ltd.

The OTOP Village exhibition has kicked off in Bangkok

The OTOP Village exhibition has kicked off in Bangkok, showcasing the unique appeal and products of villages across the country. The exhibition aims to boost revenue for villages, tie in the promotion of OTOP products, encourage villages to develop creative products and attractions, and spark an interest in regional destinations. The exhibition is taking place everyday during 8:30am to 5:00pm until October 4th at the Ratthaprasasanabhakti Building in the Government Complex on Chaeng Watthana Road.

The 62nd Bangkok Gems & Jewellery Fair (BGJF)

On August 8, 2018, the Thai Ministry of Commerce's Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) announced its readiness to host the 62nd Bangkok Gems & Jewellery Fair (BGJF) under the theme of “Heritage & Craftsmanship” to highlight Thailand’s cultural heritage and the internationally renowned, exquisite craftsmanship of Thai artisans. The event will be held on September 7-11, 2018 at IMPACT Mueang Thong Thani and is expected to help promote Thailand as an international hub for gem and jewelry trade.

The Increasing Income for Small-Scale Farmers project, launched by the Thai government to help small-scale farmers adapt to global economic and societal changes, received positive feedbacks from farmers. The project focuses on training small-scale farmers in agricultural development skills which could be applied to local community settings.

Creative Industry Village (CIV) project in Chiang Mai province recognised as an example of community empowerment

The Ministry of Industry, led by Minister Utama Savanayon, inspected the progress of the Creative Industry Village (CIV) project in Chiang Mai province. Among the CIVs, the On Tai community was recognised as an example of community empowerment by using its local history to create a unique brand for their products. The Ministry also plans to incorporate the Luang Neua Tai Lue community into the project and increase the number of CIVs to 450 by 2019.

Thailand is expecting the 5G mobile network to be in operation by 2020

Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak said he is expecting the 5G mobile network to be in operation in Thailand by 2020. He further noted that Thai agencies and mobile network carriers will now be pushing forward with the introduction of 5G services in Thailand over the next 2 years, as the 5G service will create a big impact on the manufacturing and service sector.

Thailand Post will add e-commerce to its logistics services, offering shoppers to shop online for locally made products by launching the ‘ThailandPostMart.com’, to help local communities sell their products in a marketplace with promotional delivery costs. Then from the fourth quarter onwards, Thailand Post will pilot the exports of community-made products to Japan by collaborating with Japanese online marketplaces.
