The Office of Agricultural Economics (OAE) revealed that it has accelerated the use of “Big data” to provide information for analysis in order to formulate new agricultural policies and measures which coincide with factual information. OAE’s data has been linked with the information from the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (MSDHS), and Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC), making it possible to track data on production yields, time, and important production sources. The data is divided into 4 parts, including 1.

NIA seeking to add value to crops by supporting bio-refinery industry

The National Innovation Agency (NIA) has united with the Petroleum and Petrochemical College of Chulalongkorn University in an effort to find ways to advance the bio-refinery industry with a focus on sugar cane, tapioca and oil palm. Krichpaka Boonfuang, Deputy Director for Innovations at NIA echoed the sentiment that bio-refineries would add value to agricultural products and pointed out that the scheme also satisfies government policy seeking a more quality based approach to farming.

Thailand’s Department of Fisheries and Papua New Guinea have jointly signed the memorandum of understanding (MoU) on fisheries development. Under the agreement, a joint working group will be set up to develop both countries’ fisheries management in line with their governments’ fisheries reform policies. There will be exchanges of knowledge on fisheries through joint training activities and research, aimed at enhancing the capabilities of related officials, aqua culturists and fishermen.
