KING BY VIRTUE

Conceived in 2011, King by Virtue: Reflections on the Life-long Endeavor of King Bhumibol of Thailand was initated by the Thai Khadi Research Institute, and institution for research in social science and humanities, and the Caux Round Table, and international organization of ethical business practice. It is a narration, reflection and interpretation of the King's life and work through Western eyes.

These calamities have been cited as manifestations of climate change, brough on a result of global warming.

Thailand mourns the late, great monarch, His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej

His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who was revered as the "father of the nation" among Thailand's 67 million people, passed away 13 October, 2016. The late Monarch was beloved among all his subjects - homes and businesses throughout the kingdom displayed His Majesty's portrait in an honorable, prominent position, illustrating the people's love for their king, who reigned for 70 years (1946 - 2016).

His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who was revered as the "father of the nation" among Thailand's 67 million people, passed away 13 October, 2016.

The Royal Rainmaking

Since its inception in 1969, the Royal Rainmaking project continues to alleviate drought problem in Thailand's rural area enabling farmers to harvest without disruption. The Royal Rainmaking Project was made possible through His Majesty’s persistent efforts, talent, skill and most importantly, a sincere and genuine regard for his people and country.

Water scarcity is one of the most pressing issues facing our world today. The United Nations estimates that more than 40 percent of the global population live in conditions where there is shortage of water. In most of the agrarian countries where agriculture represents a significant source of GDP, the need for water consumption in the sector has inflated to more than 80 percent of the overall demand.

A Tale of Fish and Monarch

Many countries which have a special relationship with Thailand have reacted with sorrow to the passing of King Bhumibol Adulyadej, but none more than Japan where Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko, much respected by Thais, undertook three days of mourning.

This unprecedented gesture indicated the strength of the friendship of the two dynastic houses King Bhumibol and Emperor Akihito in particular who enjoyed ever closer bonds over the decades as ties between the two countries grew more cordial and Japan encouraged investment and trade relations.
