Thammasat-Navanakorn Smart City

On 8 January 2020, Thammasat University signed a memorandum of understanding with Navanakorn Plc, RATCH Group Plc and ALT Telecom Plc for a joint study on developing Thammasat's Rangsit campus, the Navanakorn Industrial Zone and adjacent areas into an integrated smart city, or "Thammasat-Navanakorn Smart City". A prototype of the smart city is expected to be in operation by the mid 2020. The university also signed a letter of intent with Harvard's Graduate School of Design, aiming to create an "Option Studio" for international graduate students in architecture, landscape architecture and urban planning. The programme will be part of the smart city development. With the support from the government, this smart city could become a model for the country's development of smart cities. Surrounded by communities, education institutions, innovation organisations, and major manufacturing factories, the location has the capacity to become another new research and development centre.
