Thailand won the 47th Sapporo International Snow Sculpture contest for the third consecutive year with the sculpture of sea turtles in a human hand, entitled, “Future in our hand.” Under the theme of responsible and sustainable tourism, Mr. Kusol Bunkobsongserm, Mr. Amnoaysak Srisuk and Mr. Kritsana Wongtes created the three-cubic-metre ice sculpture to raise awareness about marine debris which affects marine animals. Turtles, used in the sculpture, are among one of the many species of animals facing this human-caused danger. The contest was held at Odori Park on Hokkaido Island of Japan, and participated by 11 teams from Australia, Finland, Indonesia, Lithuania, Macau, Mongolia, Poland, Singapore, Thailand and the United States.
