"Complete plastic waste management in national parks as a model for Thailand’s circular economy" project

Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, in cooperation with PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited (GC), carried out a project on “Complete plastic waste management in national parks as a model for Thailand’s circular economy”. Given that plastic waste has been increasing and causes many problems, this project, under Thailand’s Roadmap on Plastic Waste Management 2018-2030, is aimed at recycling the waste whilst enhancing the confidence in Thailand’s capacity to solve waste issues. The cooperation covers 3 major aspects of implementation: (1) promoting and supporting the use of biodegradable plastic (2) promoting waste management in all process and (3) raising awareness by using public relations. CG also provides total solutions for everyone with platform including 4 aspects, namely, supporting bio-based products, promoting the recycling of waste, creating ecosystem, and enhancing inclusiveness. In addition, Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation has been implementing several measures to reduce waste, such as, a prohibition of foam products in national parks since 2003, and “zero waste national park” concept in 2020.
