Thailand’s durian exports have increased in the first quarter of 2020

The Department of Trade Negotiations, Ministry of Commerce, revealed that Thailand’s durian exports have increased in the first quarter of 2020. The exports to China, the largest market for Thai durians, expanded to 78 percent.

Meanwhile, exports to the global markets amounted to USD 788 million, an increase of 30 percent year-on-year. Thailand is still the largest durian exporter in the world thanks to its network of free trade agreements, which help remove tariff barriers and stimulate exports to 16 partner countries, including three major markets, namely, China, ASEAN, and Hong Kong.
