Ramathibodi Hospital has been offering telemedicine services to treat patients from afar, preventing overcrowding at the hospital

Since physical distancing measures were carried out to counter the Covid-19 pandemic, Ramathibodi Hospital has been offering telemedicine services to treat patients from afar, preventing overcrowding at the hospital. Under telemedicine practices, the hospital classifies patients into three groups using colour coding. Green is used for those in stable condition, who will receive medical consultation via telephone, and drugs by mail from local pharmacies. Patients who require specialised medicine, such as, temperature-controlled drugs and drugs containing addictive substances, are classified in the yellow group. The hospital sets a schedule to let patients or their relatives come to pick up drugs on agreed dates. For those in the red group whose symptoms need to be closely monitored, hospital visits are necessary for health checking until their symptoms get better, and be categorised to other milder symptom groups. The billing system has also been adjusted to facilitate the practices. Patients can pay their medical fees via e-banking, credit card or bank transactions. After payment, the medication data will be dispatched to pharmacists to prepare and mail the required drugs to the patients immediately, while an SMS will be sent to the patient’s mobile phone to explain details of the medicine.
