School in Chiang Mai province has started to introduce “Smart Farming” lessons for students in its agriculture class

Ban Huay Som School in Chiang Mai province of Thailand has started to introduce “Smart Farming” lessons for students in its agriculture class. In parallel with conventional agricultural methods, students also learn about an automated irrigation system, which controls how much water is given to plants depending on their growth stage, in greenhouses. There is also a mushroom nursery with a humidity sensor and a spray system that is controlled automatically according to the humidity level within the facility or building. The clean, safe, and chemical-free vegetables will be sold to the school cafeteria as an ingredient for school lunches and any surplus supplies will be sold to the villagers in the community. This model enables the project to be self-sufficient as well as brings opportunities for further expansion in the future.
