Doi Mae Salong will be hosting its famous Annual Akha Swing Festival on September 7-8, 2019

Doi Mae Salong, a famous hill top in Chiangrai province, will be hosting its famous Annual Akha Swing Festival on September 7-8, 2019 at the Phra Siam Devadhiraj in Ban I-ko Sam Yaek, Tambon Mae Salong Nai, Mae Fa Luang District, Chiang Rai Province. The unique Swinging Ceremony of the Akha people is a celebration of agricultural fertility and the worship of ancestors and rain deity. Participants will take turns mounting a giant swing and propelling themselves on the swing as high as possible. Doi Mae Salong is home to a total of 9 Akha tribes. Visitors to the 2019 Annual Akha Swing Festival will have the chance to witness the famed Swinging Ceremony and traditional Akha performances such as the Bamboo Dance, and to shop for local products. Visitors are also encouraged to travel to other attractions in Chiang Rai Province, such as the Santikhiri Village which is famous for its tea, Mae Fah Luang University Botanical Garden, and Doi Pha Mee which is famous for its aromatic coffee.
The Annual Akha Swing Festival is an event that is supported by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).
