The Prince of Songkla University have developed the world’s first female CPR and breast cancer examination mannequins from natural rubber

Researchers from the Prince of Songkla University, Pattani Campus have developed the world’s first female CPR and breast cancer examination mannequins from natural rubber. The mannequins are called “Fatila” and “Areeya” respectively, and were designed to help educate students on how to save the lives of female patients, especially female Muslim patients. The Dean of the Faculty of Nursing at Prince of Songkla University, Dr. Rohani Jeharsae explained that natural rubber possesses similar resilience and consistency to human skin and muscle. Dr. Rohani also encouraged that the locally-made rubber mannequins be used in place of expensive imported mannequins for health sciences in the country to economise costs. The Prince of Songkla University, Pattani Campus is also embarking on a new project to develop an infant CPR training mannequin made out of natural rubber. These infant mannequins are also aimed to be used for medical training and related oeprations in the three southermost provinces, as well as across the country.
