The Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR) will be working with CP-All to research the potential properties of Thai holy basil to protect the liver against cancer and reduce fatty cells. The Thai holy basil plant extract will be produced from commonly discarded parts of the plant. Thai holy basil is an important ingredient in Thai cuisine. The part of the plant that is used are the leaves, while the flowers and stems are often discarded. TISTR aims to create added value for discarded Thai holy basil parts by promoting the use of Thai holy basil essential oil for cooking, as well as promoting further research on the medical use of Thai holy basil extract.
