Ophthalmologists at Siriraj Hospital have successfully used stem cell transplants to help restore the sight of 75 partially and completely blind patients for the first time. Siriraj Hospital had successfully applied “CLET” (Cultivated limbal epithelial transplantation) and “COMET” (Cultivated oral mucosal epithelial transplantation) stem-cell treatments while SLET (Simple limbal epithelial transplantation) has been used to reconstruct the patients' damaged corneas since 2014. These combined treatments have helped restore the sight of 86 eyes from 75 patients.
