Pattaya City Hall is planning to put aside 70 million baht for preliminary surveying and designing a light rail project or trams network which will be constructed at ground level. The trams are part of the Thai government’s Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) policy to develop Pattaya and other areas along the Eastern Seaboard.
This project aims to serve as a light railway linking the resort city to the high-speed railway project connecting Don Mueang, Suvarnabhumi and U-Tapao airports together for the convenience of tourists. The new transportation system will also reduce air pollution and traffic problems in Pattaya City.
