TAT has signed a Letter of Intent with Alipay to cooperate with the world's largest online payment platform to attract visitors from China.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has signed a Letter of Intent with Alipay (Hangzhou) Technology Co. to cooperate with the world's largest online payment platform to attract visitors from China.

The TAT encourages Chinese tourists to use this financial tool in accessing financial services while travelling in Thailand. In turn, Alipay will provide incentives for Chinese tourists, especially high spenders, in the form of "Thank You Rewards." TAT hopes this will boost interest from Chinese tourists to spend more in Thailand. According to TAT, The number of visitors from China is expected to reach 11.6 million this year, from the 41 million total foreign tourists projected to visit Thailand within 2019.
