Ubon Ratchathani Candle Festival – July 19th - 20th

The Candle Festival is hosted to mark the beginning of Buddhist Lent to show the people's devotion to Buddhist tradition and the magnificent skills in carving candles. During Buddhist Lent, which lasts 3 months, monks are confined in their temple grounds and dedicate their time to study, meditation, and prayer. A competition will be held to find the most beautiful candle and the Candle Procession will take place on Khao Phansa Day, featuring the Royal Candle sent by H.M. the King, which will be paraded around the city streets on floats.
